Zipaquirá  is a municipality and city of Colombia in the department of Cundinamarca. Its neighboring municipalities are Tausa and Cogua to the north; Nemocón, Gachancipá and Sopóto the east; Cajicá and Tabio to the south; and Subachoque and Pacho to the west. Its seat of municipal government is 49 kilometers from Santa Fe de Bogotá.

The town is primarily known for its Salt Cathedral, an underground church built inside a salt mine in a tunnel made as result of the excavation of the salinas. Zipaquirá has an original architecture, and the old city centre is a tourist attraction. Its main square is surrounded by old buildings in the Spanish Colonial style.

Pantano Redondo

Difficulty 3/5

From the village of Zipaquira, an outline ascent through a secondary road about 8 or 9 km. After we will  take an off road  by the tops of the mountains to a place called the top of Eagle. We will take a rest, a snack and climb a last slice up the dam reserve Pantano Redondo. Then a single-track quite interesting along the shore of the lagoon. Finally we will take a nice long descent to the starting point.

A route  of 32 km pedaling around 3000 m.s.n.m. around a spectacular natural reserve. We will leave the cars at the pier and head north along the road that runs along the lakeshore. At 9 km we will progressively steep ascent through a secondary road that will lead us to the fun descent ending to Tausa. In that point, we will climb back up to the lake to cross a single-track between pines and eucalyptus trees, that suddenly opens on the shore of the lagoon again. Finally a nice undulating route to the starting point.
