Itinerary

Day 1

 

Will pick up people at the hotel at 7:00 am. We reach the exit point in Guatavita about 9:00 am. From 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. we will distribute insurances and bicycles, make a brief introduction to the route along with some warm up exercises. About 9:30 am, journey begins.

 

Beginners:

 

We’ll start with a flat 1km path that leads to the ascent of the village of La Carbonera about 4 km to reach 2946 meters. This climb will have rest stops and we will be able to take some photos. Then we descend over 5km by dirt roads to a small lagoon where we will take a refreshment. Then the descend over 1km up the road from Sesquilé – teronar Guatavita to the starting point.

 

Advanced:

 

We’ll start with a plane ride of 1 km ascent to take us to the village of La Carbonera about 4 km to reach 2946 meters. This climb will have  rest stops and we will be able take some photos. Then we will descend to 2665 meters, along a picturesque route parallel to the Tominé lagoon with some ripple for 7 km to the village Tierra Negra in the municipality of Sesquilé.  We ascend 3 km towards Laguna de Guatavita up to 3014 meters, with a descend of  8 km to the north of the Black Earth path to the main road side.

We will return by this road that runs to the lakeshore to Guatavita during 8km. We return to the meeting point on the main road Guatavita-Sesquilé.

During the tour we will have some rest stops for refreshments and some photos.

 

Day 2

 

Beginners:

 

We pick up people at the hotel at 7:00 am. We arrive at the departure point in Sisga on 9:00 am. 9:00-9:30 am we will make partition insurances, we will deliver bicycles, we will make a brief introduction to the route along with some warm-up exercises. About 9:30 a.m., we begin the trip which will run on a dirt road rippled on the edge of the lagoon during 24 km. you will find a couple of ascends from 1 and 2 km respectively. For lunch at the Sisga we stop to catch a trout that we prepare in the associated restaurant.

 

Advanced:

 

We pick up people at the hotel at 7:00 am. We arrive at the point of exit at Centro Comercial Los Laureles via La Calera – Guasca about 8:00 am. 8:00-8:30 am we will make partition of insurance, we will deliver bicycles, we will make a brief introduction to the route along with some warm-up exercises. About 8:30 am, we begin the trip which will begin with a flat path of 7 km which will take us to the rise of Pionono whose peak stop along the route of few 2.927 meters. Then we descend 6 km from there to 2,610 meters. by way of dirt roads and a section of double-track. We will pass by the town of Guasca and cross the Valley to the South and return to the point of departure after a pretty drop a couple of km. For lunch in Guasca, we stop to catch a trout that we prepared at the partner restaurant La Muisca trout.

Day 2 / Advanzed /Pionono

 

Altitud: Aprox 2.496-2927 mts above sea level.

Distance from Bogotá: 38 Km, Northeast.

*Support vehicle: On this route the support vehicle will be available at the meeting point in case some eventuality occurs.

Recomendations during the route and during the ride
  • Do not drink alcohol, it can cause an accident and respiratory and / or digestive complications.
  • If you smoke try to avoid it.
  • Get plenty of sleep the night before the trip.
  • Whenever possible, avoid a diet high in fat and red meat the day before. always carry with you identification documents and insurance info.
  • Helmet is a must.
  • Use sneakers with good grip.
  • Wear comfortable and light trousers. The best are the lycras, it can be a drill, a sweatshirt or bermuda (though it does not protects from vegetation) avoid wearing jeans.
  • Wear long-sleeved shirt.
  • Take a second change of clothes (protected in a plastic bag).
  • Wear a hat or cap, sunscreen, sunglasses and waterproof jacket in case it rains (The chance of rainfall in the High lands is quite high).
  • Take whistle to alert when an occasion demands.
  • It Could come in handy to bring some fruit. For lunch you could eat a tuna sandwich, chicken or ham.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for extreme sports. Do not wear tight clothing that could rest mobility or that can shrink with water.
  • Always follow safety protocols that the guides and instructors give you.
  • If you have any special health condition, ask the instructors and guides if you can perform the activity without risk.

Cancellation of the reservation may be by mail to contact@nomadsbiketours.com only 7 days prior arrival to the hotel. After this period you can only reschedule the departure for another time or assign the bond to another person.
